I am in a bind. I am opening a new grooming shop and I was supposed to give out paw print candle tarts. I found you and was wondering what the charge is for 100 and if you could get them to me by 11/19/11.

Thanks Kelly, I appreciation the compliments! The Joulies are now in production in upstate New York! I can't wait to get my hands on them. I don't like my coffee too hot and then I tend to forget to drink it while I wait for it to cool down! :) I'm a proud backer of this project (along with over 4,000 other individuals) and look forward to Dave & Dave's success. Especially since they are producing them in the US and are generating new work opportunities at a recently closed down production facility. You can follow the process by signing up to their newsletter at http://www.joulies.com/.

Great article Friedrik! You have some very good ideas, and are clearly seeing huge success from many of them.
I still find what you and your team are doing (with your creativity) amazing. Well done, and keep it up.

Hi there and thanks for your comment!

You read my mind actually on the VAWT idea. In fact, I've designed a 2nd generation lantern that is using a VAWT. I did the same type of research and found some great do-it-yourself video's on youtube on how to make this all work. I'm tempted to buy a small wind turbine for an experiment.. :) I will put the rendering up on the site and update the article soon.

It's just one of those ideas that makes sense in certain parts of the world :)

The hex key idea is great! I agree, that would be a good addition. Thanks for the input and I will relate it to Nathan.

This idea makes me smile.

Several months ago I researched wind power to see if it would every be economical in my area (and to kill time at work) and found that there were many different types that I never knew existed. Currently, you have a horizontal-axis wind turbine (HAWT) depicted with the photo-voltaic (PV) cells on the tail fin; if you converted your design to use a vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) such as a Savonius or Giromill/Darrieus type you may be able to increase you power generation and stability while creating an open space on top for a PV hat of some sort. Plus, with a VAWT the generator can be on the bottom of the shaft so your electric components could be protected within the body of the lantern.

Keep up the good work!

Excellent idea and design. Manage to add a hex key for fin maintenance and that'll be the last tool a surfer needs.
